Company financing
NON-STANDARD COMPANY FINANCING
IN THE LAND OF PETRODOLLARS. This is about Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Kuwait. An increasingly bigger stream of capital is flowing from those countries, located in the area of the Persian Gulf and having rich deposits of oil petroleum and natural gas, to Europe, North and South America as well as Middle and East Asia.
Enterprises need investment, working capital and refinancing capital. They seek mostly financing at banks, but the offer of those institutions is not always up to their expectations. High costs of funding, restrictive requirements as to collaterals and on top of that lengthy and complex banking procedures have a discouraging effect. According to our clients and financial intermediaries, the offer for financing by Meridian Capital Enterprises Ltd. represents an alternative to bank loans. The procedures are more friendly to entrepreneurs and the time of waiting for the capital is much shorter than at banks. We propose margins and also interest rates lower by 10 to 20% from the bank offers. However, the offer of Meridian Capital Enterprises Ltd. is not available for each enterprise. They must comply with specific conditions and requirements. For details see our website.

"Non-standard financing of enterprises" was the subject of an international conference with the participation of entrepreneurs from 17 countries, organised in Dubai by Meridian Capital Enterprises Ltd.

What is the difference between a loan granted by Meridian Capital Enterprises Ltd. and a credit facility granted by the bank?
The economic and financial consequences of the loan and the credit facility are the same. However, from the legal point of view the difference is crucial. The loan represents an institution of the civil loan, and credit facilities are granted under the banking law. In the first case, the parties to the loan agreement enjoy full freedom of modelling their relations, while in the latter one there are numerous administrative & legal restrictions. Therefore, the clients of Meridian have more freedom when determining the terms and conditions of loans, compared with the clients of banks.
Owing to the lack of the abovementioned legal restrictions the procedures at Meridian are less complex than those at banks. Thus, our clients have an easier access to capital.

Is there any upper limit of loans?
We have not come across any investment project exceeding the financial capacity of our investors, and we have them in 19 countries. This situation may change since we are observing a systematic and growing demand for capital. It is demonstrated by the large number of applications for financing that we receive. Large projects represent a dominant part of them.

Which term are the loans granted for?
These are short-term, medium-term and long-term loans. Working capital loans are granted for the maximum term of 4 years, investment loan for the maximum term of 12 and sporadically even 18 years.

May a company having liabilities towards several banks expect help in refinancing its credit facilities?
There is such a possibility. Refinancing of bank credit facilities depends on the scale of liabilities and the credit capacity. Recently, we have observed among our clients a visible tendency to refinancing with Meridian their bank credit facilities. We offer them advantageous terms and conditions of refinancing.

“Allocation of capital from the rich countries in Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Kuwait), having a capital surplus, to Europe, North and South America, Middle and East Asia represents and effect of the expanding globalisation of the world economy. This process is a fact, whether or not one likes it, as for example the Alterglobalists. Instead of fighting something that is unavoidable, it is better to join the process to benefit from it in economic an social terms. Globalisation is a chance for those who look ahead and a threat for those who want to turn back the wheel of history.”this a fragment of my comment for American Finance Institute Goldman Group

What are the criteria of assessing the credit capacity ?
Those are more flexible compared with banks. Meridian applies its own methodology for assessing the credit capacity and collaterals owned by the borrowers. The calculators of credit risk assessment (Credit Scoring), commonly used at banks, perform only an auxiliary and supplementary role with us, but not determine whether of not to grant the loan.

What are the required collaterals?
The list of required collaterals may be found at our website

Who uses the services of Meridian Capital Enterprises Ltd.?
These are firms preferring a faster and easier access to capital. These are also companies preferring a relatively lower cost of capital funding compared with banks. Our services are also used by enterprises for whom the banks’ doors are closed.

Which types of business entities represent the clientele of Meridian Capital Enterprises Ltd.?
Those are private individuals running business at a larger scale, and also public and listed companies. The capital of our investors is also more willingly used by banks and para-bank financial institutions. In USA and Great Britain it is a normal and common practice that banks use the capital of non-banking financial institutions.

Is Meridian Capital Enterprises Ltd. interested in establishing co-operation with financial advisory companies, i.e. credit intermediaries seeking capital for their clients?
Yes, we are open to such co-operation. Those firms show a great interest in our credit offer being competitive to banks’ offers.

Rumour among the entrepreneurs has it that the liberal principles of granting loans turned against Meridian Capital Enterprises Ltd. Some clients proved to be dishonest and did not pay back their debts.
It is true, but they represent a small margin. Most our clients are honest entrepreneurs. However, some of them experienced a temporary deterioration of financial standing.
In crisis situations we help our clients with restructuring their enterprises. Our readiness to provide assistance is based on cool business calculations. In exchange for our assistance we expect that the enterprise management take the necessary remedial measures that will finally result in the repayment of loans.
